There are a billion lakes and ponds and mountain trails to explore. We love:
Lake Willoughby. Check out South Beach. You may find a lovely walk through the woods to the prime location, which is also a nude beach.
Mt. Hor. Beautiful moderate hiking trail for views of Willoughby - pair with a dip.
Kettle Pond. A walk around the pond ideal for chatting, moss, and glacial erratics.
Owl's Head lookout. Short climb for impeccable views of the Groton State Forest -- including Kettle Pond. Hang out on warm smooth rocks for hours.
Barr Hill Natural Area. Long winding trails through the woods and long views of mountain ranges. Get a feel for the region.
Green River Reservoir. Borrow our canoe or rent a boat and paddle around with loons.
If you're staying at the Highland Lodge, enjoy their private beach on Caspian Lake. There is also a public beach.
