Some highlights from the map.

  • A self-guided tour through the Museum of Everyday Life for a reminder of how interesting it is to be human.

Bread & Puppet museum and print shop. If you can't join us the day after the wedding, but have time to get to the Northeast Kingdom's political puppet theater, do.

Taste a classic Vermont maple creemee at Tootsie's.

  • Two of the sweetest spots around are owned by friends. Go visit!

The Buttery, Maggie & Gavin's café and natural wine bar in downtown St. Johnsbury. Visit for coffee, breakfast, lunch, snacks, wine, dinner, and a speciality market.

Fox Market & Bar, Doni and Liv's queer community hang space. Stop by for coffee and pastries, wine, snacks and meals, and a fun market.

    Other beloved breakfast or lunch:

Boule bakery in St. J. for pastries.

Three Ponds in Danville for sandwiches.

Extra time in Vermont? Head here for a dinner date:

Ondis or Barr Hill in Montpelier.

    Blackbird Bistro in Craftsbury.

    Parker Pie in Glover.

  • There are a billion lakes and ponds and mountain trails to explore. We love:

Lake Willoughby. Check out South Beach. You may find a lovely walk through the woods to the prime location, which is also a nude beach.

Mt. Hor. Beautiful moderate hiking trail for views of Willoughby - pair with a dip.

Kettle Pond. A walk around the pond ideal for chatting, moss, and glacial erratics.

Owl's Head lookout. Short climb for impeccable views of the Groton State Forest -- including Kettle Pond. Hang out on warm smooth rocks for hours.

Barr Hill Natural Area. Long winding trails through the woods and long views of mountain ranges. Get a feel for the region.

Green River Reservoir. Borrow our canoe or rent a boat and paddle around with loons.

If you're staying at the Highland Lodge, enjoy their private beach on Caspian Lake. There is also a public beach.
